Australian Society of Marine Artists 2019 National Exhibition at the Maritime Museum of Tasmania

The Australian Society of Marine Artists Inc (ASMA) 2019 National Exhibition at the Maritime Museum of Tasmania’s Carnegie Gallery coincides with the 75th Anniversary of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and showcases the best examples of the ASMA Members’ artwork, masterfully illustrating the rich maritime heritage, beautiful coastlines and waterways of our nation. 

While emphasising the continuation of and dedication to the Marine Art tradition, the exhibition also highlights the relevance of this specialised artistic genre in the contemporary context. Capturing many subjects with different media and artistic styles, the works which are for sale, depict historical and contemporary subjects. 

Images incuded in this post include works from the exhibition by artists Ib Odfeldt, Don Fogg, John Downton, Walter Knoop and Greg Wardle.

The exhibition includes works by Suzy King,  Karen Bloomfield, Stan Stefaniak, Gerry Jensen, Robyn Coleman, Don Braben, Anne Le Fevre, Chris Hill, Jennifer Pullman, Bruno Wein, Jane Bennett, Penelope Hillam, Bill Mearns and Hugh Cross.

The exhibition is open Monday to Sunday from 9:00am – 5:00pm (EXCEPT Christmas Day) 15 November 2019 – 22 March 2020.  
Normal admission fees to the Maritime Museum of Tasmania apply.
