Summer is not over and in the past few months I have had a range of wonderful maritime experiences - a few of which I thought I would share!

Some pictures have been added to the web site.

In November I was a guest of the Swiss Ambassador to Australia at a reception in Brisbane.

The occasion was to welcome the Fleur de Passion, on its first visit to Australia. This Swiss registered ketch is managed by the Ocean Mapping Expedition and is part way through a four year voyage in the wake of Ferdinand de Magellan.

In mid-December 2016 it was wonderful to welcome to the ANMM as a visiting vessel SV Tenacious. One of two vessels run by the Jubilee Sailing Trust SV Tenacious was berthed alongside Wharf7 - adjacent to the ANMM's Heritage Centre in Darling Harbour.

Over 600 members of the public were able to visit the vessel and learn more of the work on the JST. See:

On Boxing Day I was one of many staff and volunteers from the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia working on delivery of the 2016 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. As one of the team of Race Officers on the Official Start Boat we were responsible for timing and starting of the race. The view from the Committee Boat end of the start line was very impressive as those super maxi yachts came in very close, just like Perpetual Loyal below, as they geared up for the start at 1300.
