As a brand new member of the Australian Maritime Museums Council, I would like to convey my thanks to all those involved in the staging of the Sydney based workshop "Navigating Restoration" at the Australian National Maritme Museum/Sydney Heritage Fleet, over the past two days.
I have been a volunteer tour guide at the ANMM for a little over 8 years and being a bit of a history buff (but certainly no expert) I am glad to have found another channel within which to learn, network and meet new friends.
I must admit that I found the prospect of meeting people more qualified than myself a little daunting, but I needn't have worried as I soon settled back into my comfort zone as it were, and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I am sorry that I wasn't able to speak to everyone, but one member, Mark I discovered used to live (or work) within a stone's throw of my former home near Stratford upon Avon in "Merrie England!"
Of course there will be other opportunities to network and I look forward to that.
Once again, thank you.
